Your Heroes, Their Wildemount: Explore Critical Role’s Campaign Setting

The border is tense. Every faction has an explanation. Your party has three conflicting loyalties and a remarkable ability to make an introduction worse. Somewhere between those problems, a campaign is waiting to happen.
Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount opens the continent featured in Critical Role’s second campaign to your own group. It combines setting material, character options, four starting adventures, and the Heroic Chronicle system for developing a character’s ties to the world.
Use the Setting as a Beginning
A familiar world can be an invitation rather than a script. Your heroes can care about different places, make different friends, and pursue entirely different goals. The point is to give your group a world with enough texture to push back.
Wildemount’s tensions offer a useful starting question: what does your character believe before the journey begins, and what might make them reconsider?
Give the Party Roots
The Heroic Chronicle is especially appealing for players who want their backstories connected to places and people. A past relationship becomes much more useful when it can lead to a favor, a difficult reunion, or a reason to take the next job.
Our table idea: let every player contribute one friendly contact and one unresolved obligation. Ask two characters to share a connection. Suddenly the party has reasons to cooperate before the first emergency.
For Fans and World Builders
This is a campaign setting resource, with starting adventures, rather than one continuous campaign to follow from beginning to end. DMs can build from its foundations while players find inspiration for heroes who belong there.
You do not need to recreate the cast’s performances. Your table brings its own voices, mistakes, and unlikely victories.
Open the map. Choose your loyalties. Let Wildemount meet a new group of troublemakers.
