Dungeons & Dragons: Mordenkainen Presents Monsters of the Multiverse at Karwind’s Collectibles

The party has learned what a goblin looks like. They have opinions about skeletons. They are beginning to recognize your favorite ambush. It may be time to invite a few unfamiliar neighbors into the world.

Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse gathers and updates creatures from Volo’s Guide to Monsters and Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes. It includes more than 250 monsters and over thirty playable species options, giving DMs and players plenty to explore.

Build an Encounter Around a Question

A creature can be the beginning of a mystery, a negotiation, or a dangerous journey. Ask what its presence changes. Why is it here? Who benefits from it? Who needs help because of it?

Those questions help turn a stat block into a situation the party can influence. The result can still include a fight, but the fight now belongs to a larger story.

A Broader Character Starting Point

The playable options also offer ways to begin a hero somewhere beyond the familiar. Start with the person’s goals and relationships, then decide how their background and abilities affect the way they approach the world.

Our table idea: give a new character one old friend and one ordinary responsibility. Unusual heroes feel grounded when they still owe someone a favor or worry about a place back home.

Check Your Existing Library

Because this book compiles and revises earlier material, owners of its predecessor books should consider the overlap. Its usefulness lies partly in having a broad reference gathered together.

If your group uses revised rules or other versions of these options, agree on the version for your table. A shared reference choice makes play easier.

Open the bestiary. Pick a possibility. Give the next unfamiliar creature a reason to be there.
