Heroes Under a Wartime Sky: Dragonlance, Shadow of the Dragon Queen

The celebration should have been the important event of the week. Then the warning arrived. Now the road is crowded, the sky is dangerous, and ordinary people need more help than anyone planned to provide.
Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen takes characters from levels 1–11 into Krynn’s wartime story. It also introduces kender to fifth-edition play and includes Lunar Sorcery, along with backgrounds and feats connected to its setting.
Put People at the Center of the War
Large conflicts become easier to care about through smaller relationships. A friend who needs an escort, a family refusing to leave home, or a familiar place under threat gives the heroes something specific to do.
For a group that likes heroic fantasy, those choices can make courage feel tangible. The party’s actions matter because somebody’s life changes when they succeed.
Build a Party With Reasons to Stand Together
Our table idea: before beginning, have each character name a person they would protect and a promise they intend to keep. Connect a few of those answers across the group.
Then leave room for quieter scenes. A shared meal or a difficult reunion can make the next dangerous mission land more strongly than another speech about the size of the enemy army.
