Every Door Leads Somewhere: Discover Planescape’s Multiverse
The door was in a perfectly ordinary alley. The view through it is considerably less ordinary. Your guide insists this is the short route. They also insist that the floating skull is excellent company. Neither claim has improved your confidence.
Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse brings Sigil and the Outlands to fifth-edition tables. The collection pairs setting material in Sigil and the Outlands with the creatures of Morte’s Planar Parade and the reality-bending adventure Turn of Fortune’s Wheel.
A Home Base With Unusual Neighbors
Sigil offers a place where the next doorway can open the campaign in a new direction. That is a useful premise for a group that enjoys discovery, strange conversations, and questions about how the wider universe works.
A location like this becomes easier to grasp through familiar needs. The heroes still need lodging, information, and someone willing to explain the local customs before they violate another one.
Make the Vastness Playable
Our table idea: start with one neighborhood, one reliable contact, and one immediate problem. Let the larger setting unfold when the players have a reason to explore it. A clear goal makes an unfamiliar world much less intimidating.
Give recurring NPCs recognizable wants. A cosmic traveler can still be late, owe money, or be trying very hard to impress the wrong person.
For Groups Ready to Leave the Map
This is a collection for players and DMs who want fantasy with room for unusual ideas. It can support a dedicated planar campaign or help a DM open a larger universe around an existing party.
Keep the adventure’s revelations on the DM’s side of the screen. Discovering the strange parts together is part of the pleasure.
Count the doors. Remember your destination. Ask whether the guide charges extra for returning you to the correct reality.
