Devils and Archons: Top Picks from Pathfinder Battles: Planar Perils
Karwind's Collectibles: D&D Miniatures Spotlight
When a campaign leaves the Material Plane, the monsters get a lot stranger, and a lot scarier. Pathfinder Battles: Planar Perils is WizKids' trip through the Outer Planes, with devils, demons, daemons, and celestials all in one set. It's made for Pathfinder, but a devil is a devil in any game, and these three would be at home in a D&D campaign too.
About the Set
WizKids revealed Planar Perils in April 2025 (TheGamer covered the reveal), opened pre-orders that June, and released it in December 2025. The set has 47 miniatures, and TheGamer noted it includes the first-ever minis of two of Hell's biggest names: Mephistopheles and Asmodeus. Each booster has one Large figure and three Small or Medium ones, at $19.99, and a 10-booster brick retails for $199.90. WizKids also released a separate Diabolic Dragon figure that stands about 12.5 inches tall.
Going by Miniature Market's single listings, the rarities break down like this:
Commons: 14 figures, from Imps and Hell Hounds to Fire Scamps and the four Living elementals (Landslide, Thunderclap, Wildfire, and Whirlwind).
Uncommons: 21 listings (counting color variants of the Sordesdaemon and Derakni), including the Gargoyle, Procyal, Gylou, and Woljif Jefto.
Rares: 12 figures, including Asmodeus, the Garuda, the Contract and Executioner Devils, a Young Havoc Dragon, and the three below.
We haven't found a formal review of the set yet, so here's our own take.
Mephistopheles (#45, Rare)

Mephistopheles is the lord of Hell's eighth layer, a master of fire and deals, and this is his first-ever miniature. It's a big figure on a 50mm base, about 77mm tall (per Miniature Market). He has huge red wings, dark robes, and a staff crowned with golden flame. He looks like he's about to offer you a deal you'll regret.
Why collectors want him: A first-ever figure of an archdevil is a big deal, and he's the last numbered figure in the set. He's also one of the two most sought-after figures in the set at other retailers, along with Asmodeus.
At the table: Use him for Mephistopheles, of course, or any archdevil, a fire lord, or the final boss of a campaign through Hell. He works just as well in D&D's Nine Hells.

Eremite (#35, Rare)

The eremite is a velstrac, one of Pathfinder's fiends of chains and pain that are obsessed with reshaping flesh. This figure is pure body horror: a thin, gray, spindly shape with long hooked limbs and spikes sticking out in every direction. It looks like it crawled out of a nightmare and wants to rearrange you.
Why collectors want it: It's a creepy, one-of-a-kind sculpt, and horror fans love it. There's nothing else quite like it in most collections.
At the table: Use it for an eremite, any fiend that tortures its victims, a horror from the Shadow Plane, or the thing waiting at the bottom of the dungeon.

Aesra, Legion Archon (#39, Rare)

After two fiends, here's someone from the good side. Archons are Heaven's lawful soldiers, and the legion archon is a front-line fighter. Aesra stands in shining gold armor with a halo of fire, ready to fight back against whatever Hell sends.
Why collectors want it: Good-aligned planar figures are much rarer than devils and demons, so she fills a real gap. It's also a beautifully painted Rare.
At the table: Use her for an angel or archon, a celestial ally sent to help the party, a paladin or cleric PC with a divine heritage, or the leader of a heavenly army.
