Unicorns and Robots: Odd Little Wonders from Quests from the Infinite Staircase
Karwind's Collectibles: D&D Miniatures Spotlight
Where else would you find a unicorn, a suit of powered armor, and a trio of clay golems in the same set? Quests from the Infinite Staircase is the kind of set that makes you smile when you open it. It's a bit of everything, the same way the adventure it was made for is. Our stock is small right now, but what we have is a fun mix.
About the Set
The Quests from the Infinite Staircase book is a 2024 anthology that remasters six classic 1st Edition adventures, from The Lost City to Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, with its crashed spaceship. WizKids announced a matching D&D Icons of the Realms set in April 2024 with 45 miniatures, including creatures that had never been sculpted before. It was planned for September 2024, but the collector database MinisGallery lists its release as November 27, 2024. Boosters are $19.99, with one Large figure and three Small or Medium ones in each. WizKids also released a premium Froghemoth Elder figure on its own.
The figures range from fungus-and-swamp weirdos (vegepygmies, barkburrs, a giant frog) to classic monsters and some science fiction (androids, combat robots, powered armor) that fits right in with the Barrier Peaks crowd. Going by Miniature Market's single listings, the rarities break down like this:
Commons: 13 figures, including Vegepygmies, a Bunnyoid, Pech, Gibberlings, an Android, and a Mummy.
Uncommons: 19 figures, including an Invisible Stalker, Combat Robot, Troll, Minotaur, Rug of Smothering, Clay Golem, and Powered Armor.
Rares: 13 figures, including the Eldritch Lich, Dracolisk, Nafik, Fire Elemental Myrmidon, and the Unicorn.
We haven't found a formal review of the set.
A note on stock: We have only 10 listings from this set right now, and the Unicorn is our only Rare. So this time we're featuring the Rare plus two Uncommons we really like.
Unicorn (#42, Rare)

It's a unicorn, and it's lovely. This Large figure (on a 50mm base, per Miniature Market) shows a white unicorn mid-stride, with a flowing golden mane and tail, golden hooves, and soft pink detailing along its body. It looks like it just stepped out of an enchanted forest.
Why collectors want it: Good unicorn minis are surprisingly hard to find, and this one is a Rare with a really nice paint job. It's also a great figure for players who want something a little less scary on their shelf.
At the table: Use it for a unicorn guardian of a sacred grove, a celestial steed, a paladin's mount, or a magical creature the party has to protect. It's also great for a wild-shaped druid.

Powered Armor (#20, Uncommon)

Here's where the set gets weird, in the best way. This is a bulky suit of powered armor with heavy plates, thick arms, and a sealed helmet, posed with its arms spread like it's ready to grab someone. It's painted in gunmetal gray and looks like it belongs on a crashed spaceship.
Why collectors want it: Sci-fi figures are rare in D&D miniatures, and this one is a great conversation piece. If you love the gonzo side of old-school D&D, this is the figure for you.
At the table: Use it for a construct, a guardian robot, a warforged-style creation, or an alien "suit of armor" that's still walking around with no one inside it.

Clay Golem, Set of 3 (#31, Uncommon)

Golems are classic D&D monsters, and clay golems are some of the toughest. These are hulking, gray, man-shaped constructs on Large 50mm bases. We've bundled three together so you can build a real encounter.
Why collectors want them: One golem is a fight; three golems is a nightmare. Building a group of the same monster is one of the hardest things to do with random boosters, so this set saves you a lot of work.
At the table: Use them as guardians of a wizard's tower, an ancient temple's defenders, or a golem factory gone wrong. They work as stone or flesh golems too.
